2014 ATSIEB election

An election was conducted from 4 July to 12 July 2014 to elect 7 members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body for the ACT. Fourteen candidates contested the election. Any Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander aged 18 or over, living in the ACT, was eligible to vote in the election.

Counting for the election took place on Tuesday 22 July 2014 using the Hare-Clark proportional representation system. A total of 377 votes were admitted to the count.

The successful candidates in the order in which they were successful were:

  • Dianne Collins
  • Jo Chivers
  • Jo Donovan
  • Maurice Walker
  • Ross Fowler

Casual vacancies

Since the July 2014 general Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body election there have been five casual vacancies.

  • Ms Jo Donovan resigned on 4 June 2015 and was replaced, via a count back of Ms Donovan's ballot papers, by Mr Richard Allan.
  • Mr Fred Monaghan resigned on 7 July 2015 and was replaced, via a count back of Mr Monaghan's ballot papers, by Antony McCulloch.
  • Mr Rod Little resigned on 27 November 2015 and was replaced, via a count back of Mr Little's ballot papers, by Ms Tjanara Goreng Goreng.
  • Mr Richard Allan resigned on 12 February 2016. As Mr Allan became a member of the Board as a result of the resignation of Ms Jo Donovan, Mr Allan was replaced by Lynnice Church via a count back of Ms Donovan's ballot papers.
  • Ms Diane Collins resigned on 28 July 2016. No applications were received to contest the vacancy. The vacancy will be filled by Ministerial appointment.
  • Ms Tjanara Goreng Goreng resigned on 29 July 2016. No applications were received to contest the vacancy. The vacancy will be filled by Ministerial appointment.
