MEDIA RELEASE
17 September 2024
Record enrolment: Canberrans are ready to vote for Canberra’s future.
Elections ACT has announced that following the preliminary close of rolls on Friday 13 September, 318,603 Canberrans are enrolled to vote in the 2024 ACT Legislative Assembly election.
ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Damian Cantwell AM CSC, stated that the ACT continues to achieve remarkable enrolment rates, with around 98% of eligible residents registered.
‘It is gratifying to see such a comprehensive participation; and for the few eligible people who are not yet enrolled, there is still time.’ Mr Cantwell said.
‘While Canberrans can no longer update their existing enrolment, eligible ACT residents yet to enrol can do so up to and including the final day of voting, Saturday 19 October.’ Mr Cantwell added.
318,603 people are currently on the ACT electoral roll and eligible to vote, up from the 306,000 electors eligible to vote in the 2020 ACT election.
