‘The Australian Multicultural Party has officially been entered on the register of political parties in the ACT,’ the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Damian Cantwell AM CSC, said today.

The registration took effect today, Tuesday 30 September 2024.

‘Parties wishing to register for ACT elections must submit a list of at least 100 members who are on the ACT electoral roll and a copy of the party’s constitution’. Mr Cantwell said.

Registered political parties are able to list their party name or their abbreviated name on ballot papers. Australian Multicultural Party’s registered abbreviation is ‘AMP’.

There are currently thirteen political parties registered in the ACT:

  • Animal Justice Party
  • Australian Labor Party (ACT Branch)
  • Australian Multicultural Party
  • Belco Party (ACT)
  • Canberra Progressives
  • Democratic Labour Party (DLP)
  • Family First Party (ACT)
  • Fiona Carrick Independent
  • Liberal Party of Australia (A.C.T. Division)
  • Libertarian Party
  • Sustainable Australia Party – Stop Overdevelopment / Corruption
  • The ACT Greens
  • The Community Action Party (ACT)
