Liberal Democratic Party - Change Party Name and Abbreviation
Published 2 July 2024
The Liberal Democratic Party changes name to Libertarian Party.
"The Liberal Democratic Party has officially changed its name, abbreviation, registered officer and secretary in the register of political parties in the ACT," Mr Damian Cantwell AM CSC, ACT Electoral Commissioner, said today.
"The party’s name was changed from the Liberal Democratic Party to the Libertarian Party. The party abbreviation was changed from Liberal Democrats to Libertarians and the registered officer and secretary positions also changed from David McAlary to Scott Warhurst." Mr Cantwell said.
As a result of this change, the Libertarian Party will have the choice of two names to appear on ballot papers at the October 2024 ACT election:
- Libertarian Party; or
- Libertarians.
Further information on party registration can be viewed on the Parties page.
