Published 14 June 2024
The Liberal Democratic Party have applied to change the party’s name, abbreviation, registered officer and secretary in the register of political parties in the ACT, the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Damian Cantwell AM CSC, said today.
"The application is seeking to change the party’s name from Liberal Democratic Party to Libertarian Party; the abbreviation from Liberal Democrats to Libertarians; and the registered officer and secretary from David McAlary to Scott Warhurst." Mr Cantwell said.
Anyone wishing to object to the changes may lodge a written objection with the Electoral Commissioner by 27 June 2024.
A notice inviting objections to the changes has been published on the ACT Legislation Register and on the ACT Open Government and Elections ACT websites.
A copy of the application and the constitution of the party are available for public inspection at the office of the Commissioner between 9.00am and 5.00pm on business days.
Further information on party registration can be viewed on the Parties page.
