Public suggestions for redistribution of ACT electoral boundaries available for comment

Published 1 Mar 2023

“The second stage in the public consultation process of reviewing the ACT Legislative Assembly's electorate boundaries and names starts today with the release of the suggestions made by members of the public”, the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Damian Cantwell AM CSC, said today.

A total of 19 suggestions have been received by the Redistribution Committee. These are available for public inspection on the ACT Electoral Commission website at www.elections.act.gov.au.

“Members of the public are now invited to make written comments on these suggestions”, Mr Cantwell stated.

Comments should be lodged with the Electoral Commission via Elections ACT website or by email to redistribution@act.gov.au, or delivered to the office of Elections ACT, by Tuesday 14 March 2023.

After the Redistribution Committee reviews and considers each of the public suggestions and comments, it will publish a proposed redistribution of the ACT electoral boundaries. The public will then have 28 days in which to object to the proposed boundaries.

Further information is available from the ACT Electoral Commission’s website at www.elections.act.gov.au and from its office at the Nara Centre, 3 Constitution Avenue, Canberra City.
