Casual vacancy countback result: Ms Laura Nuttall to be elected to the ACT Legislative Assembly

Ms Laura Nuttall is set to replace Mr Johnathan Davis MLA in the ACT Legislative Assembly, the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Damian Cantwell AM CSC announced today.

The names of the candidates who nominated to contest the vacancy are as follows:

  • Greg Baynham (Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party ACT)
  • James Daniels (Canberra Liberals)
  • Brendan Forde (ACT Labor)
  • Laura Nuttall (The ACT Greens)
  • Robyn Soxsmith (Animal Justice Party)
  • Taimus Werner-Gibbings (ACT Labor)

The result of the countback to fill the vacancy resulting from the resignation of Mr Johnathan Davis MLA from the ACT Legislative Assembly is available from the Elections ACT website www.elections.act.gov.au.

The ACT Greens candidate for Brindabella, Ms Laura Nuttall received a majority of preferences after Mr Davis’ votes were distributed by computer count this afternoon.

The scrutiny tables set out the result of the count, showing at Table I the result of the distribution of the ballot papers, and showing at Table II the result in terms of the number of votes those ballots papers represent.

It is expected that Ms Nuttall will be officially declared elected to the ACT Legislative Assembly on Tuesday 28 November 2023 at 3:30 pm by the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Damian Cantwell AM CSC.

Media representatives and members of the public are welcome to attend the declaration of the poll however attendance is subject to appropriate Covid Safe provisions of the Legislative Assembly. The declaration will be held at the ACT Legislative Assembly, Civic Square, 196 London Circuit, Canberra City.
