Sustainable Australia (ACT) applies to change party name and abbreviation

Sustainable Australia (ACT) has applied to change its official name and abbreviation to be the following:

“That the name be changed from Sustainable Australia (ACT) to Sustainable Australia Party – Stop Overdevelopment / Corruption

That the abbreviation of the Sustainable Australia Party (ACT) be changed from Sustainable Australia – Stop overdevelopment. Stop corruption. to Sustainable Australia Party

Mr Damian Cantwell, ACT Electoral Commissioner, said today.

As a result of this change, Sustainable Australia (ACT) will have the choice of two names that it will be able to use on ballot papers at the next October 2024 ACT election:

  • Sustainable Australia Party – Stop Overdevelopment / Corruption; or
  • Sustainable Australia Party.

Anyone wishing to object to the change to the name and abbreviation of Sustainable Australia (ACT) may lodge a written objection with the Electoral Commissioner by 3 February 2021.

A notice inviting objections to the change of name and abbreviation was published on the ACT Legislation Register, on the ACT Open Government webpage and on Elections ACT’s website on Wednesday 20 January 2021.

A copy of the application and the constitution of the party are available for public inspection at the office of the Commissioner between 9.00am and 5.00pm on business days.
