ACT Electoral Commission 2020 election information campaign commences

The ACT Electoral Commission commenced its information campaign for the 28 September to 17 October 2020 ACT Legislative Assembly election this week, the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Damian Cantwell AM said today.

“The information campaign consists of a number of phases that will be rolled out over coming weeks as the election approaches,” Mr Cantwell said.  “In addition to the traditional television, radio and press media, the Commission is also widening its social media outreach. Two information brochures will also be delivered to every ACT household across the election period.”

“The first phase of the campaign is focused on electoral enrolment. The next phase ‘Vote early. Vote safe.’ will run across the full election period and is aimed at informing ACT electors of the COVID safety arrangements that will be in place at all voting locations.”

Mr Cantwell said that voters in Canberra will also be informed of the extended early voting period in place for the 2020 election, and related COVID safety benefits. “Voting is available to all electors at locations across Canberra from 28 September to 17 October to enhance COVID safety for all participants. Early voting centres will be open daily between 9am and 5pm with extended hours 9am to 8pm on Fridays.”
