137 candidates to contest the 2020 ACT Legislative Assembly election

Electoral Commissioner, Damian Cantwell AM has today formally declared 137 candidates to contest the 2020 ACT Legislative Assembly election.

Mr Cantwell said that candidates will be vying for 25 MLA positions, with five positions available for each of the five electoral divisions.

“With the candidates and ballot paper order now known, we’re able to finalise preparations for the start of voting on Monday 28 September,” Mr Cantwell said.

“This election, we’ve tripled the number of early voting centres available across Canberra to 15 and we’re encouraging everyone to vote early and safely.”

Early voting is available every day for a three-week period from Monday 28 September to Friday 16 October. To find your nearest early voting centre, go to www.elections.act.gov.au.

  • Under the ACT’s Robson rotation method of printing ballot papers, the order of the printing of candidates’ names within each column will vary on each ballot paper.  Each of the 5-Member electorates is printed in 60 different ways.
