Time running out to enrol to vote in ACT election – electoral rolls close tomorrow

Published 20 Sep 2012

Canberrans have until 8 pm on Friday to make sure they are enrolled to vote for the 20 October ACT Legislative Assembly election.

The ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Phil Green, reminded ACT voters today that the roll is about to close and only those on the roll would be able to vote in next month’s election.

“Friday night at 8 pm is the cut-off for enrolment,” Mr Green said. “Completed enrolment forms must be received by an Electoral Office by 8 pm, not just posted by then.”

Eligible citizens can find enrolment forms online and check if their enrolment is up to date at www.elections.act.gov.au . Enrolment forms are also available at any ACT Post Office, ACT electoral office, MyWay Centre or Canberra Connect.

“Electors who are already enrolled can update their address details online,” Mr Green said.

“First-time enrollers must complete a printed enrolment form and sign it. Completed forms can be scanned and emailed.”

Forms can also be delivered to the Australian Electoral Commission at 8-10 Hobart Place, Civic, or faxed to (02) 6257 6014 up to 8 pm on Friday. Forms can also be delivered to Elections ACT at 41 Rae Street, Belconnen or faxed to (02) 6205 0382.
