Published 8 Jul 2008

“The Community Alliance Party (ACT) has applied to change its official abbreviation from CAP to Community Alliance” the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Phil Green, said today.

Anyone wishing to object to the change to the abbreviation of the Community Alliance Party (ACT) may lodge a written objection with the Electoral Commissioner by 22 July 2008.

A copy of the application and the constitution of the party is available for public inspection at the office of the Commissioner between 9.00am and 5.00pm on business days.

It is now too late to apply to register a political party or to change the name or abbreviation of a registered political party for the October ACT election.  The deadline for making an application to the ACT Electoral Commissioner was 30 June 2008.

Further information on party registration can be viewed on the Commission’s website.
