Best Party withdraws application for registration

The ACT Electoral Commission has received a request from the Best Party of Allah in Australia to withdraw the application made to register the party last week.

"As a result, the Commission will make no further enquiries into the eligibility of the party for registration", the Electoral Commissioner, Phil Green said today.

If the party wishes to apply again for registration, another application accompanied by the party's constitution and membership list of at least 100 ACT electors will need to be submitted.

As a result of the withdrawal of the application no notice calling for objections to the application will be published in the Canberra Times and copies of the application and the constitution of the party will not be available for public inspection at the office of the Commissioner.
