One new party registered and two party registrations cancelled

The Canberra First Party is the latest addition to the ACT register of parties to participate in the forthcoming Legislative Assembly election.

The Electoral Commissioner, Mr Phil Green, announced today that the application for registration of the Canberra First Party had been successful and that the party had been entered in the ACT Party register.

The registered officer of the party is

  • Hank Spier
  • 92 Jervois Street
  • Deakin ACT 2600

The Moore Independents and the Democratic Socialist Electoral League have been removed from the register of parties. The Moore Independents requested that their registration be cancelled. The registration of the Democratic Socialist Electoral League was cancelled as the Commissioner believed on reasonable grounds that the party did not have 100 members on the ACT electoral roll.

As September 13, the cut-off date for party registration approaches, there remains only one outstanding application: that of the Australian Human Rights Party. The application from this party is still under consideration by the Electoral Commissioner.
