18 candidates standing for the 2021 ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body election

“18 candidates will contest the 2021 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body election,” Mr Damian Cantwell AM CSC, ACT Electoral Commissioner said today.

“The nomination period closed at 12 noon on Tuesday 1 June 2021 and the names of the candidates contesting the election were declared at an official event on Wednesday 2 June 2021”, Mr Cantwell continued.

The names of the 18 candidates contesting the election, listed in ballot paper order, are:

  • Deanne BOOTH
  • Ross FOWLER
  • Oliver KICKETT
  • Maurice WALKER
  • Tanya Michelle KEED

  • Margaret BLACKMAN
  • Lynnice CHURCH
  • Jo CHIVERS
  • Leah HOUSE
  • Karen DEMMERY
  • Brooke RIGNEY
  • Jackson TAYLOR-GRANT

“The candidates will be vying for seven positions on the Elected Body to represent the interests and aspirations of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community,” Mr Cantwell said. Voting for the election will take place during NAIDOC week from 3 July to 10 July 2021.
