Where to find ACT Election results

Published 14 Oct 2016

Results of the 2016 ACT Legislative Assembly election will be available on the Elections ACT website from Saturday evening, the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Phil Green said today.

“Election results will be progressively displayed on the Elections ACT website at www.elections.act.gov.au from shortly after 6 pm Saturday evening 15 October,” Mr Green said.  Tables will show first preference votes, percentages and quotas received by each candidate, candidate and party totals for each polling place and totals for each electorate and the ACT.”

“Results of first preference votes from paper ballots as well as all preferences from electronic voting ballots will also be available. With more than 75,000 electronic votes expected to be made, trends on the outcome of the election could be available quite early on election night,” Mr Green said.

The website will update results as they are transmitted from the polling places, with the last results expected before midnight.

The final outcome of the election must await receipt of postal votes (which can be received up until the Friday after polling day) and the distribution of preferences.  A final result should be reached on the weekend of 22 - 23 October.

A physical Tally Room is not being established for the 2016 election.
