Four days left before the ACT electoral roll closes

There are just four days to go before the ACT electoral roll closes for the upcoming election, the ACT Electoral Commissioner Mr Phil Green said today.

Rolls for the 15 October ACT Legislative Assembly election close on Friday 16 September.

“ACT residents have just four more days to make sure that they are correctly enrolled for next month’s Legislative Assembly election,” Mr Green said.

“Time is running out to enrol. If you have recently turned 18 or 19, or you are 17 and will turn 18 on or before polling day, you should enrol now,” Mr Green said.

“Often people will overlook the need to update their enrolment if they move.  If you have changed address and haven’t updated your enrolment, it’s easy to update your enrolment online,” Mr Green said.

“Remember that enrolment is compulsory.  It is important that every eligible citizen should enrol and have their voice heard in how the ACT is run,” Mr Green said.

Eligible citizens can enrol online and check if their enrolment is up to date at www.elections.act.gov.au.  Enrolment forms are also available at any ACT Post Office and ACT electoral office.

Completed enrolment forms can be lodged until 8 pm at the Australian Electoral Commission office at 50 Marcus Clarke Street, Canberra City or the Elections ACT office at Eclipse House, 197 London Circuit, Canberra City.
