ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body election results announced

The names of the seven members to be elected to the ACT’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body were announced today by the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Phillip Green.

“Counting for the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body election took place today, using the Hare-Clark proportional representation system. A total of 377 votes was admitted to the count,” Mr Green said.

The successful candidates in the order in which they were successful are:

  • Rod Little
  • Fred Monaghan
  • Dianne Collins
  • Jo Chivers
  • Jo Donovan
  • Maurice Walker
  • Ross Fowler

Fourteen candidates contested the election. Voting for the election took place from Saturday 4 July to Saturday 12 July 2014. Any Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander aged 18 or over, living in the ACT, was eligible to vote in the election.

The official declaration of the poll will take place at 5:30pm, Thursday 24 July 2014, at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Centre, Lady Denman Drive, Yarramundi Reach.  The declaration will be open to candidates, the media and the general public.
