Nine parties registered for the 2012 ACT election
Nine political parties are registered to field candidates at the 20 October 2012 ACT Legislative Assembly election, the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Phillip Green, said today.
“Two new political parties have been added to the register of political parties in the last week. Bullet Train for Canberra and the Marion Lê Social Justice Party are now registered in the ACT,” Mr Green said.
“Registered political parties are able to list their party name or their abbreviated name on ballot papers and receive public funding of election expenses,” Mr Green said.
It is now too late for any political parties not yet registered for the October ACT election to apply. The deadline to submit an application for official registration for the 2012 election was 30 June 2012.
