Over 240,000 enrolled to vote for ACT election

Over 17,000 more people will be able to vote in this year’s ACT Legislative Assembly election when compared with the electoral roll for the last election in 2004.

The rolls for the 18 October election closed on Friday 19 September.

“There are 243,471 electors on the roll for this election – an increase of 17,373 on the 226,098 who were enrolled for the last election in 2004,” the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Phil Green, said today.

 “In 2008, 125,486 females and 117,985 males will be eligible to vote,” Mr Green said.
