The ACT's electronic voting system will be on show at an E-Voting conference to be held in Seoul, South Korea, later this week.

The ACT's Electoral Commissioner, Mr Phillip Green, will present a paper on the ACT's experience with electronic voting to the conference on E-Voting and Electronic Democracy: Present and the Future, being held in Seoul on 17-18 March 2005.

The conference will also feature speakers from Austria, France, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, South Korea and Switzerland.

Electronic voting was used with considerable success at the ACT Legislative Assembly elections held in 2001 and 2004. The ACT is the only Australian jurisdiction to use electronic voting for parliamentary elections.

The E-Voting conference is being hosted by the South Korean National Election Commission. South Korea is considering using electronic voting at its national elections scheduled for 2008.
