Over 7,000 more people will be able to vote in this year's ACT Legislative Assembly election than were on the roll at the last election in 2001.

The rolls for the 16 October election closed on Friday 17 September.

"There are 226,098 electors on the roll for this election - an increase of 7,483 on the 218,615 who were enrolled for the last election in 2001," the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Phil Green, said today.

"Over 14,800 enrolment forms were received during the 3 weeks before rolls closed last Friday. These were both new enrolments and changes of address, all resulting in a more accurate roll," Mr Green said.

Enrolments for the three ACT electorates now stand at:
Electorate Number enrolled
Brindabella 65,279
Ginninderra 65,271
Molonglo 95,548
Enrolment figures for all 6 ACT Legislative Assembly elections are as follows:
Election year Number enrolled

1992 184,405
1995 196,959
