ACT electoral roll closes tomorrow

ACT residents have until tomorrow to make sure that they are correctly enrolled for next month's Legislative Assembly election.

The ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Phil Green, today reminded residents that the rolls for the 16 October election close on Friday 17 September.

"Over 10,000 people updated their enrolment in the ACT in the week leading up to the roll close for the federal election on 7 September. Another 3000 people have updated their ACT enrolment since the federal rolls closed," Mr Green said.

"While it is now too late to update your enrolment for the federal election, there is still time to enrol for the ACT Legislative Assembly election if you have recently turned 18 or moved house. Even 17-year olds who turn 18 on or before polling day can enrol now," Mr Green said.

Enrolment forms can be picked up from Post Offices, ACT Shopfronts and electoral offices, or can be printed from the Electoral Commission's website. Anyone wanting to check if their enrolment is up-to-date can ring the Elections ACT enquiry number, 6205 0033.

Enrolment for the ACT as at 14 September 2004 was:

  • BRINDABELLA: 65 133
  • GINNINDERRA: 65 162
  • MOLONGLO: 95 324
  • ACT Total: 225 619
