Eight candidates have applied to contest the vacancy in the ACT Legislative Assembly following the resignation of Mr Gary Humphries on 24 January 2003.

The ACT Electoral Commissioner, Phil Green today declared the names of the applicants who wish to contest the casual vacancy in the electorate of Molonglo.

The computerised count-back for the vacancy in the ACT Legislative Assembly following the resignation of Mr Humphries will commence at 3.00 pm this afternoon.

Media representatives are welcome at the computerised count. The count will be held at the office of the ACT Electoral Commission, at Plaza Level, Allara House, 48-56 Allara Street, Civic.
