Failure to vote

If you have received an Apparent Failure to Vote Notice following the 15 October 2016 ACT Legislative Assembly election and you:

  • DID VOTE; or
  • DID NOT VOTE, but believe you have a valid and sufficient reason for not voting; or
  • DID NOT VOTE, and wish to pay the $20 penalty to finalise the matter.

Apparent failure to vote online form - 2016 ACT election

If the Electoral Commissioner accepts that you did vote or that you have a valid and sufficient reason for not voting in the election, no further action will be taken against you in regard to this matter.

It is an offence to fail to vote at an ACT Legislative Assembly election without a valid and sufficient reason.

Please note that giving false or misleading information is a serious offence.
